About the Team:

The Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality (TRQ) is responsible for the recruitment of high-quality teachers to meet the staffing needs of NYC public schools and for initiatives that promote the equitable and quality distribution of teachers across all schools. Research has repeatedly shown that teacher quality is the single most important variable in raising student learning. TRQ accomplishes its work through a strategic, data-driven approach.

 

The Alternative Certification and Extension Programs team, within the Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality, manages the implementation of the DOE’s alternative certification and extension programs to increase the number of certified teachers in the NYC classrooms that need them the most. In partnership with key stakeholders, the Alternative Certification and Extension Programs team supports cohort model programs that prepare teachers to raise student achievement as early as possible in their careers, and provides job search and onboarding assistance to ensure a smooth entry into the Department of Education.

 

The Consultant will....

  • Lead one of TRQ’s application management system, SurveyMonkey Apply
  • Data tracking across several systems to update and maintain a gradebook for STEP program participants. (The NYC Specialized Teacher Enhancement Pathway is a district embedded teacher preparation program that aims to increase the number of qualified educators with the skills and competencies to support secondary students with disabilities.)
  • SQL based reporting for teacher preparation programs
  • Create sustainable reporting and data visualizations in Power BI

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Expertise with SurveyMonkey Apply
  • Familiarity with R and/or Python and using it to programmatically pull data using APIs
  • Familiarity with Blackboard Learning Management System preferred
  • Experience with SQL preferred
  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerBI
  • Basic knowledge of Pre-K-12 educational programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Excellent time management skills, and ability to communicate challenges quickly and efficiently
  • Shifts gears easily while effectively handling competing priorities
